As with all good business ideas, P+B began with a simple goal:

How could we change the way people buy cars?

Then, like now, we began our learning with the most important resource to any business; people. The more people we spoke to, the more difficult this industry of ours seemed; whether it was the complexity of financial agreements, overwhelming and confusing sales pitches or simply being ignored whilst in vehicle showrooms.

We’ve always believed people shouldn’t have to choose between a single-brand, outdated dealership model and an impersonal, low-skilled call centre, especially when making one of the most significant and expensive decisions for their family.

That’s why our two founders created Pike+Bambridge (now P+B): to give the people of the UK a genuine alternative, and a better way to secure their next vehicle.

“You may know already, but P+B actually began with a visit I took with my wife, Lana, to a well-known dealership brand. We’d just arrived back from living in the US and had no idea what to expect from the process. I’d actually always bought used VW Golfs up to that point!

We were blown away at how hard it seemed to get clear information and straight answers to our questions. Maybe it was just a bad day at the office for the salespeople that day, but as we asked around, it felt like everyone we spoke to had a similar experience…buying a car was a complete pain in the…

Assuming things could be done differently, P+B was born. Our belief is clients shouldn’t have to choose between a single-brand, outdated dealership experience, or an impersonal, low-skilled call centre for one of the most important, and expensive, choices they will make for their family.

Now, as we did at the very beginning, we look ahead to the future, and to changing the way that people buy cars.”
