What’s new about 2022’s Discovery Sport?

The 2022 Model Year sees a rather comprehensive change to the Discovery Sport line up from Land Rover, with the introduction of an Urban Edition, new features, and changes to its specification.

Whilst the Range Rover Evoque’s agility suits those looking for a crossover model, the new Discovery Sport provides a hugely practical option for those looking for a little more size, but not quite ready to take the step to the full-sized Discovery.

What is the new Urban Edition?

Following on as a direct replacement for the hugely popular R Dynamic S Plus, the brand new Urban Edition will be based on this specification, but will have some additional features, further enhancing its strong value proposition.

Available on petrol, diesel, and hybrid engines, the Urban Edition will include metallic paint, privacy glass, the ClearSight interior rear view mirror, 20” alloy wheels and a fixed panoramic sunroof as standard, meaning it will represent excellent value for money going forward.

What is SAVE Mode?

In short, SAVE mode is self-charging functionality, which will now feature on all P300e (hybrid) variants of the Discovery Sport. When in SAVE mode, the car’s battery can now be charged up to 80% of its capacity to make the electric-only range available more regularly!

In the last model, the charge could simply be held, but Land Rover now estimate that at a constant speed of 70mpg, this 80% charge can be achieved in 90 minutes.

Any other small changes to note?

Yes, a few!

  • The Rear View Camera is now standard across all models, while the 3D Surround Camera remains as an option across the range. Cupholders are no longer standard, and are optional now.
  • The Metallic Yulong White paint has now been replaced with a rather nice Ostuni Pearl White colour, and the new Discovery Sport is also available in Lantau Bronze which is notably popular on the larger Discovery model.
  • If you are keen on the 7 seat Discovery Sport model, there are now no variants which have these as standard – instead, you’ll have to add this on as an option going forward.

All in all, we love the new Discovery Sport. If we haven’t made it obvious by now, our pick is certainly the new Urban Edition!
