Business Leasing

An increasing topic of discussion that P+B have frequently with our clients due to the push for zero emissions mobility. In this blog we will outline some of the key benefits and considerations when transitioning to electric mobility. Further to this, we will also look into details of the savings that a business can take advantage of when making the change.

One of the biggest barriers for a business transitioning to electric mobility is the initial outlay of cost and the monthly payments, this is typically higher than the diesel or petrol equivalents. However, we have found when looking more in depth that the typical average business will find it much cheaper throughout the lifetime of ownership. For example, if we compare one of our popular CV brands, Peugeot. You will see below that there is considerable saving to take advantage of with the current rising fuel prices and maintenance costs.

Model Monthly Lease Fuel Maintenance Total Monthly Cost
Peugeot Expert Diesel
Pro Premium
£386 £267 £61 £714
Peugeot E-Expert
Pro Premium 75 kWh
£540 £67 £48 £654

P+B have been asked a lot of questions around the cost and time to charge an electric van and what impact this will have when it comes to down time (vehicle on charge and not mobile). There are multiple ways to charge your EV, the most common method is home charging. This typically is done during the course of the night, however there is multiple other options, on-site charging facilities, supermarkets, service stations or carparks. If we look at most electric vans being manufactured, the average time for gaining 10-80% of change is around 40 minutes. This could be tied into lunch breaks, working hours non mobile in the CV or simply when the van is static at home or near.

The average miles in the UK for a LCV (Light commercial vehicle) works out around 72 miles per day. If we look at the average range of a electric LCV produced in the UK this comes out at 120 miles on average per full charge. Taking this into consideration we have found urban drivers inside cities have benefited significantly when making the transition with fuel costs reduced by over half.
